Genesis of WE Day
Marc Kielburger, the co-founder of WE Charity and Craig Kielburger created WE Day in 2007. Was once a small gathering of committed young people, it has grown into a worldwide phenomenon. In cities in North America and UK, this event brings students, teachers, and celebrities together to celebrate and promote their impact.

Transformational Stories
1. The Vision of a Student is Turned into Reality

Emma is a Toronto-based high school student. She attended WE Day 2018 and decided to tackle food insecurity within her community. Emma, inspired by the inspiring stories of other young leaders in the world and her local community, decided to take on food insecurity. Emma organized a food collection drive with her local school and businesses. The effort collected more than 10,000 pounds of nonperishable goods. This initiative was not only a way to provide vital resources for those in dire need but it also inspired her peers to take an active role in social causes.

A group of Alberta students decided, in another story that is truly remarkable, to take on climate change. In response to the WE Day speeches, they started a campaign aimed at reducing their school’s carbon footprint.
